African American Spiritualists Who Were Civil Rights Leaders
in the 1800’s

with Rev. Robin Reale

2:00 pm – 5:00 pm; Online
Pre-register by Aug. 8th: $35; After Aug. 8th: $45

Rev. Robin Reale brings to life five African American Spiritualist authors, civil rights lecturers, and trance mediums who won battles to change the US Constitution and overthrow racist education, transportation, and public theater segregation laws. Until now, Spiritualist history has tended to recognize only those authors who published books related to Spiritualism. Be inspired as you become aware of the obstacles they overcame, the courage they found, and the faith they had to move forward with their beliefs. Rev. Robin will give us new tools to use the lessons of these brave citizens to empower us emotionally and move forward on our own chosen paths. Join our workshop and get a feel for their footsteps as they were guided by spirit and fought for their own freedom at a time when kidnappers and slave owners were hovering to shackle them into quiet servitude. We explore their revelations which continue to shift the greater consciousness.

Rev. Robin is a gifted Spiritualist historian and teacher who was the first to publicly present the paths of faith and intuitive knowledge at the very heart of all five African American Spiritualists. Through her articulate and animated PowerPoint narrative, we will celebrate the resilient spirit of Mrs. Harriet E. Wilson (1825-1900), the first African American female novelist and a Spiritualist trance medium, healer, and lecturer. In Boston she was the first female and African American to open a children’s Spiritualist lyceum, The Spiritual Progressive School. We explore her life through the expanded edition of Mrs. Harriet E. Wilson’s novel, Our Nig; or Sketches from the Life of a Free Black, with notes by Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Dr. Richard J. Ellis.

Rev. Robin Reale, PhD (ABD) Special Education Public Policy, is an ordained Spiritualist Minister and Metaphysician through the Fellowships of the Spirit, Lily Dale, NY. Robin serves Spiritualist churches throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York as lecturer, medium, and Spiritualist historian. November 1, 2000 was dedicated Robin Reale Day in Massachusetts following receipt of the prestigious Eugene Rooney Public Service Award for excellence in teaching & training. She served in Peace Corps Chad and Senegal, and consulted in Lithuania to rebuild the education system after communism.
